Happy Fall!

Hello everyone!

Hard to believe it is Fall already.  It's been a busy, busy year so far.  Be sure to check your child's Friday folder each weekend to see work from the week and any other important information sent home.  The parent letter and monthly calendar are sent home once a month along with a breakfast/lunch menu.

This month is our 2nd grade musical.  Your child had a permission slip sent home last week for you to sign in order for them to participate.  If you need another, let me know.

Thanks to everyone who ordered books this past week.  The order has been submitted and we should have our books very soon.

Quarter 1 will end on the 19th.  If you would like to schedule a conference to discuss your child's progress, please contact me.

Have a fabulous weekend!!!

We've Been BUSY!!!

Hi Everyone!

Sorry it's been 3 weeks and I'm just now getting around to posting.  Using a blog for parent communication is new to me and I've been trying to find some answers for posting the students' pictures on the Internet.  The Gilmer Co. Schools policy is that if you signed the Publicity Release Form in the back of the Student Handbook.  If you do NOT want pictures of your child on here, please let me know asap, because I've been taking lots of pictures.

We have gotten settled into our routines and things are going very smoothly.  If any problems are arising, I am requesting parent conferences now so that we can (hopefully) nip any problems in the bud right away.  I want this to be a GREAT school year for all of us!!!

Below are all the students in my homeroom on the first day of school.  Arent' they adorable??

If you want a copy of your child's pictures, just right click and save as to add to your own pictures.

Watch next for posts on most days!!!!

Have a GREAT weekend!

The Classroom is Ready to GO!!!!

Tomorrow, is the BIG day...

Looking down the hallways.  They just got painted in our school colors this summer.  Aren't they beautiful?  And the floors are so shiny.  Well, that won't last long!!!

Here's the area outside of my room.  This is where students will display their work.  Tomorrow the students will decorate their name tags to add to it.

Our door.

A closer look.

The board outside our room showing the homeroom list, the reading group, and our schedule.

Looking into my classroom.  Sadly, my boards will remain unfinished for a few days.  The laminator tore up this week, can you believe it???  Of all weeks.  I will post updated pictures later when it has been fixed and I can add my Focus Wall here.

Our reading rug my sweet son-in-law gave me last year.

Reading area with new blue and green baskets along with my frogs I've been gathering all summer.

The calendar.

Math area.  I had a bright idea to paint a RED bookshelf lime green.  Put me way behind with my "To Do List" as it took SEVERAL coats of paint.  BUT, isn't it bright, cheerful and pretty??

The curtains my mom made me.  Thank goodness for great moms.  Another bright splash of cheeriness!

Our Word Wall where I will be adding words for my reading group.

Instead of DEAR time (Drop Everything and Read), we're going to have FROG time (Fun Reading is Our Goal.)

A froggy blanket, frogs and basket.   This is in the "Book Nook" area so kids can cuddle and get comfy with a good book.

On the other side of "The Book Nook."  I hope to encourage students to "Hop Into A Good Book."

The wall behind my reading table with magnets stuck on my new magnetic wall.

Check back for more pictures soon.   I can't wait to see you all tomorrow.  I have a feeling that I won't be able to sleep very well.  I think I'm as excited as you!  :-)

Meet the Teacher Day

I was so excited to meet all of you today at "Meet the Teacher."  Now, I'm even MORE excited about Friday than before!  I planned on posting pictures of our classroom, but my batteries died in my camera.  :-(  Don't worry though, I have the batteries charging and I will take pictures tomorrow and post them when I get home from work, so be sure to check back!

On Thursday, while you get one more day of sleeping late, I will be working hard in the room getting all of our fun activities ready for Friday.

If you have your crayons and other supplies, be sure to bring them with you Friday.  We have some coloring and writing to do (and even a math test).

No snack store Friday, but don't worry, I will have something yummy for you!

See you Friday!!!!  :-)

Welcome to my classroom for 2012-2013.  I am so excited to have your child in my classroom this year.  My form of classroom communication will be through this blog.  Check back daily as I will be telling you about our day and posting lots of pictures for you to view.
